Pebble is hard rocks. But it is less abrasive and easier to crush compared with basalt crushing. Pebble is more brittle and basalt, though pebble is still hard. Therefore, the design of pebble crushing solution will be more flexible. We may introduce two stages pebble crushing applications, if the customer’s budget is less. But three stages pebble crushing application is still the most cost-effective configurations in the long run.

If the customer doesn’t need cubic shaped gravel, we may use two stages jaw crusher to get final products. The equipment cost for this configuration is the cheapest and maintenance is very easy. The solution of pebble crushing for this configuration would be the most economic one. But the shortcoming for this configuration is that the shape of final stone is not good. There is big quantities flake shaped gravel in the final products. This type of gravel is not competitive in the market. Because high-grade construction needs high grade gravels. Only cubic or round shaped is high grade gravel.

To get cubic shaped gravel, we may adopt jaw crusher as primary crusher with impact crusher as secondary crusher. The cost of this configuration will be higher than two stages jaw crushers configurations. But as pebble is a hard rock, it has a bigger abrasion to quick wearing parts of impact crusher. Therefore, the production cost will be increased in the long run. But pebble is a brittle rock; this configuration is acceptable as the abrasion is not very serious.

How to get cubic shaped gravel and meanwhile reduce the production cost? We need to add one set of extrusion crusher between jaw crusher and impact crusher. What’s extrusion crusher? Jaw crusher, fine jaw crusher and cone crusher. The crushing task will be overloaded by primary crusher and secondary crusher in this configuration. And finally tertiary impact crusher will be used for shaping. It will greatly reduce the quantity of recycled gravel in this configuration. The last crusher will have a lot of repeating crushing working, if this is a big ratio of recycled gravel in a crushing plant. It also increased the cost on the wear parts.

The equipment investment will be increased, if we adopt the configuration of two stages extrusion crushers working with a tertiary impact crusher. But the production cost will be greatly reduced in the long run.
